Wrapped in cashmere with Cactus + Olives

October 4, 2017

What’s versatile, luxurious and soft all over?

This AMAZING cashmere wrap from a local, Napa online boutique called Cactus + Olives! I’m a big sucker for anything cashmere (if you don’t own cashmere sweatpants yet, you’re missing out!!), and this wrap combines my two favorite things in a piece of clothing: comfort and versatility.

This is a piece you can wear all year round, with any outfit you can think of. Throw this on for a night in with your pal Netflix, or dress it up as a shawl over a dressier outfit with heels. I’ve showed two ways I wore my wrap below, but the options are limitless. Check it out:

Not only am I a big supporter of quality and well made pieces, but I’m also a huge supporter of local businesses. I try to partner with Napa and Bay Area companies as much as possible, so I was ecstatic when I was introduced to Cactus + Olives. This online boutique originated when creator and owner, Terri, traveled to her favorite country in the world, Italy. She was surrounded by these small, artisan, Italian designers that were making pieces she hadn’t found back home. When she asked these designers if they import to the states and they said no, viola! Cactus + Olives was born.

While Terri does sell some domestic, seasonal clothing on her site, it was this plush, Italian cashmere wrap that had be swooning. This wrap is hand-made in Italy and just the piece you’d show up wearing after your European vacation at the envy of all of your friends :). With Napa weather fluctuating so quickly (warm during the days and then dropping quickly at night), having a wrap is the perfect cover up for fall. Unlike scarves or shawls, this wrap is extremely versatile, with 5 different ways to wear it! I draped it over a pair of leather pants and sneakers for a casual afternoon to grab drinks, but the options are endless.

(^my favorite sneaks for fall. These AirMaxs aren’t’ as bulky as past year’s models and have a cool, mesh-stencil design).

Outside of finding a wrap like this one for fall, a good pair of leather pants is a must! Now finding the RIGHT pair can be challenging, so don’t splurge on the first pair you find. The most essential part of finding the right pair is the fit; if the leather is pulling or bunching in the wrong way, it’s very noticeable and will look terrible! Since real leather is quite expensive and a bigger investment than other pants, I turn to the RealReal for consigned designer fashion. These Chloe leather pants were brand new (with tags), but I got the for a fraction of the price. They stock everything from shoes, to handbags, to clothing. This site is a great way to find your favorite designers at a manageable cost!

Like I mentioned earlier, one of the best parts of this wrap is it’s versatility! There’s a couple different ways you can wear this gem, and my two favorites are styled here. The first way is sliding off one shoulder in an asymmetrical way (shown above), and the other way is wearing it like a cape (shown below). Both ways give your outfit a sense of easy chicness, while still being super comfortable. I styled the wrap for a more formal dinner below, with white shorts and heels!

(^Franklin turns 2 today!! Had to give him a little birthday drink of course!)

On Cactus + Olives is a great video Terri shot of styling this wrap in multiple ways, and I was shocked when the last way was as a scarf! It wraps perfectly into a scarf, without looking awkward or disproportionate. I’ll be wearing this wrap all around the valley, but will also take this as my go-to piece when traveling. I can picture this being the perfect wrap for the plane, layered over sweaters, and used as a scarf to minimize packing too much on a trip!

Sadly summer is over, but fall means cashmere! I’m weirdly excited for boots, comfy sweaters, and wool hats. So head on over to Cactus + Olives and check out Terri’s cashmere shop, and find a wrap that works for you! It comes in Heather Bisque (what I’m wearing), Heather Grey, Espresso and Charcoal. You can’t go wrong!

Hannah
