If you guys follow me on Instagram (@vogueinvines), you know we took a long weekend to vacation down in San Diego. We stayed at the Hotel del Coronado which was built in 1888 and is an absolute vessel of history. Since we were only gone from Thursday to Sunday morning, we decided to only bring a carry-on (which can be so hard to pack!). When planning what to pack, you have to think about what products you’ll need for your destination and what products you have that are under 3 oz! Since we headed to the beach I made sure to go heavy on the products with SPF and makeup that is lighter and sweat proof!

FIRST AID 5 in 1 Face Cream SPF 30: my absolute favorite moisturizer. I apply this stuff religiously because it has so many functions: zinc oxide for sun protection, bisobolol for soothing, alpha arbutin to even out skin tone, antioxidants to combat free radical damage, and homeostatine to prevent and reduce wrinkles. This is my go-to cream to moisturize in the mornings and has SPF 30 to protect all day long. Voila!

COOLA Make Up Setting Spray: my newest obsession! I’ve been on the prowl for a good make up setter (I also like BEN NYE Luxury Powder) and this one gives you the perfect matte finish AND has SPF 30! This product is perfect for the beach because it not only protects your skin from the sun, but it will re-set your make up if you’re out in the sun and feel it starting to run. I carry this in my purse so I can spritz a quick spray whenever I need.

EVER Overnight OilI’ve always been slightly wary about putting oil on my face (I feel like I spent my entire adolescence fighting oily skin!), but this product leaves your skin absolutely silky smooth and hydrated. I’m a HUGE fan of EVER products (see my review of their peel pads here) and this little oil has completely reenergized my skin. Apply it at night before bed under your moisturizer, and wake up the next morning with plump, hydrated skin. Life changing!

FIRST AID Ultra Repair Hyra-Firm Sleep Cream: I’ve raved about this nightly moisturizer before, but this stuff saves my skin. When we sleep, our skin restores itself and repairs any damage we caused during the day. This cream gives your skin back it’s lost moisture as well as help firm and rejuvenate.

NEULASH Lash Enhancing Serum: A dream of mine has always been to have long, thick, luscious lashes. Before my wedding a few years ago, I tried Latisse to get those long lashes and it actually worked! But my doctor warned that it cause your eye color and eye lids to darken which would be permanent and irreversible, so I stopped using it. I searched for an alternate serum and found NeuLush, a top rated lash enhancing serum without any darkening side effects. You apply nightly before before so I made sure to pack it on this trip!

KAI Perfume Oil: If you haven’t smelled any of Kai’s products yet, you are missing out! This is my favorite scent right now (gardenias) and I would bathe in it if I could. This little guy has a  roll-on applicator and fits perfectly in any purse so you can reapply as need be.

I’ve recently stumbled across Belif products and became an instant fan (find my reviews of their other products here). And what better than an all-in-one travel size skincare routine! This cute little travel packet comes with a creaming cleanser, wet essence, a toner, a moisturizer and an eye cream…what more could you need? This mini products are everything you need for a weekend getaway, fit perfectly in your carry on, and will give you clean and balanced skin for your vacation!

REVLON Photoready Foundation: If you’re like me, you’ve gone through tons of foundations…some are too heavy, some too yellow, some too pink, some too sheer. I finally found my pot o’ gold with this foundation! It offers great coverage by evening out your skin tone, but doesn’t feel heavy and sticky at all. I apply it with a TART Airbrush Foundation brush to ensure it goes on evenly and smoothly, and I’m good to go all day!

TOOFACED Cocoa Powder: After applying foundation, I also add a light dusting of pressed powder to set my base. While I’ve used loose powder in the past (specifically Bare Minerals Broad Spectrum foundation), I really like this pressed powder because it’s not messy and applies more evenly.

EYEKO Fat Eyeliner: I’m extremely picky when it comes to eyeliner, and I’ve kissed quite a few frogs to find this prince. With a really thick ‘marker’ and liquid product, it applies very easily and smoothly to your lids. I only apply liner to my top lids and always extend into a cat eye, and this EYEKO liner responds beautifully to direction. You don’t have to worry about one twitch of the wrist ruining your entire liner!

MAKEUP FOREVER Smokey Mascara: If I could only pick one item of make up to wear, it would hands down be mascara. This little gem has a cone shaped applicator to give your lashes great curl as well as giving you a ‘piecey’ look. I keep this mascara in my travel bag and it’s the perfect addition!

BUTTER Moisture Matte Lipstick: My everyday lip color is usually chapstick with a subtle pink gloss on top, but I like adding a pop of color in the evening. I snatched up this Butter lipstick on a recent trip to Ulta Beaty and am completely hooked! I usually only buy matte lipsticks (lasts longer and smudges less) but often worry about the drying out over time. But this lipstick provides great moisture to your lips and will last through happy hour, dinner, and dessert!

When packing a carry-on, space is always an issue. I try to only bring the essentials and only 1 accessories in each category. I recently started experimenting with curling my chair with a flat iron, and to my surprise, it works really well! Instead of packing both a straightener AND curling iron, I can now pack my INFRASHINE straightener to get both jobs done.

I get a little germaphobic in hotels, so I bring a pair of socks along to lounge around the hotel in. I get a kick out of graphic socks (I usually wear sushi socks haha) but I’m obsessed with all the fun prints from HAPPY SOCKS! I love this deep teal color, so I got one pair with pink palm trees and one pair with these cute hands on them! Cute right?!

Upon arriving in Coronado, Joe and I walked to a grocery to load up on snacks and wine. Since it was quite warm all weekend, we stuck to beer, bubbles, and this yummy rose, HOGWASH. We like to support Napa wines as well as those growers and winemakers in the valley that are especially influential…this specific rose is part of the Tuck Beckstoffer Wines portfolio so we knew it would be great!

Hannah
