Napa Local Edition: Live in the Vineyard

November 14, 2017

What is ‘Live in the Vineyard’ and how can I go?

So, here’s the skinny. Live in the Vineyard is a private event that takes place in Napa each year and you must win tickets in order to attend. I know, a little different system than normal events…but it is SO worth the work to win a pair of tickets! To enter, simply find a radio station that is participating (find stations here) and call in to win when the time is right.

And what exactly does this event entail? In lamest terms, it’s a weekend melting wine, food and music together. But it’s so much more than just a concert, some food and some wine. Let me break it down for you…

Live in the Vineyard kicked off on Friday, November 3rd with a luncheon and private performance by AJR (known for their hit single ‘Weak’. I wasn’t able to attend this, so my first event was a concert at Napa’s downtown theater, Uptown Theater. This is a fairly small venue, so you didn’t have a bad seat in the house. What was so cool about this concert was that each artist sang 3-5 songs, which kept the energy up and kept the audience invested in every single song. Performers included Joseph, Julia Michaels, ZZ Ward, HAIM, Lindsay Ell and Sara Evans…not bad right??

After Friday night’s concert, ALOFT Hotels hosted a late night party at the Westin Verasa. The Westin is right across the river from downtown Napa, so easily located and a beautiful  property. The first event Saturday was a wine tasting experience hosted at Sutter Home in St. Helena. Not only could winners sample wines from all over the valley, but they got to be part of a private performance by LeAnn Rimes!! Very intimate…VERY cool.

Then as Saturday night rolled around, we got to experience another concert at Uptown! I was most excited for this concert since the Revivalists were performing (shown in iPhone photo above). AND THEY WERE AMAZING. I had a serious fangirl moment (along with the 2 guys I was with!). The show opened with Gregory Darling, Magic Giant, and Ocean Park Standoff, and then closed with The Revivalists and The All-American Rejects. To have all these amazing artists in one place at one time AND in such an intimate setting was very special.

The Westin hosted another late night party on Saturday after the concert, and then Sunday’s event was a brunch at Peju Winery! This was probably my favorite event of Live in the Vineyard as it was a very intimate, private concert with Dave Barnes, Eric Paslay, Hunter Hayes, and Temecula Road. We were literally 20 feet away from all the artists, and they each played 2 songs in a ‘guitar round’ in which they took turns singing/playing acoustic guitar. To hear their songs broken down in a simple, raw form was SO special and something you’d never get to experience elsewhere.

Not only did we get an amazing brunch, but unlimited access to Peju wines! I had no idea they made a sparkling wine (since they don’t distribute it), but got to try their Brut Sparkling Wine…yum.

Not only did we get a private concert, but we got to hear from Today Show host, Joy Bauer. She spoke a bit about nutrition, and offered a little ‘Fact or Fiction’ quiz for the audience. You can see Malory from Vine Living getting in on the quiz!

(^Lisa Peju said a few nice words welcoming us to her winery)

So as you can see, this was a stripped down, bare bones performance by each artist. No band, nothing to hide behind. My favorite artist was probably Dave Barnes because I was very unfamiliar with his music. He is a vocalist himself, but has also written tons of songs for other country artists over the years. If you follow me on Instagram (@vogueinvines), you saw my live video of him recording Eric Paslay’s song for his son! Too cute…

Basically, you NEED to win tickets to this event. All transportation was provided, winners got unlimited wine, food, and an insanely exclusive music experience. I’ve attended quite a few Napa events, and this has by far been my favorite.

Thank you Live in the Vineyard for letting me experience this amazing weekend!

Cheers,

Hannah
