Napa Local Edition: Holiday wear straight from Napa Valley

November 20, 2016

BOHO LIFESTYLE shirt ($42): shop here, vest ($48): in store, jeans: in store or shop similar here and here, and necklace: in store or find others here

It’s officially holiday season! And we’re all in a full court press shopping mode. While I love heading into Nordstrom and Macy’s during this season (the Christmas trees are up and it feels like the North Pole), I feel like anything I buy will be generic and lack originality. So I’m sharing some of my favorite buy (for yourself or as a gift) straight from Napa Valley! In this post of NAPA LOCAL EDITION, I’ll be talking about 3 local Napa companies to check out this season.

The first little boutique we’ll be talking about is BOHO LIFESTYLE, located right downtown Napa on 1st street. This cute boho shop has everything from holiday dresses, to trendy sweaters, to boots, to barrettes! For this look, I grabbed these flattering high waisted, pocket braided, flared jeans (that look great with wedges or heeled boots), this burgundy shirt and faux-shearling, quilted vest. Even though Napa is renowned for some of the best wines in the world, it still is farm country and very laid back. This casual outfit is perfect for chilly dog walks, grabbing lunch, or doing your holiday shopping!

(^ one of my favorite things about BOHO LIFESTYLE is their huge selection of affordable jewelry! This cute little Napa hot air balloon necklace is just one of many pieces that’s under $40 and a great stocking stuffer, or addition if you like to layer necklaces)

Boho Lifestyle will also be having a little store party on December 8th so don’t miss out! Even though spring and summer is the post popular time to visit Napa, December is one of my favorite months in the valley. Drive through Yountville as they light up the entire Washington Street, and take the Yountville trolly to Bistro Jeanty for their famous Tomato Soup to warm you up!

OLIVE & POPPY bangle: shop here, tote bag: shop here, and necklace: shop here

Our next local Napa artisan is OLIVE & POPPY, a collection of Napa themed pieces for the laid-back, wine enthusiast. Each piece has a bit of wine country in it and makes the perfect gift for those who love wine as much as us! I often see a lot of ‘wine themed’ trinkets and gifts that you’d never catch a local wearing or using, but Olive & Poppy is mindful of keeping their products authentic and true to the wine country vibe.

(^ I’m a sucker for gold jewelry and this long-line ‘CHEERS’ necklace is too cute for words. Not only would this make a great gift for a wine lover, but also for those friends who are newly engaged!)

Now this is my favorite item from Olive & Poppy: a wine bottle tote! This canvas tote has a built-in sleeve for your wine bottle! If you’re headed to a friends house, a picnic, or a restaurant that offers corkage, this tote is perfect for transporting your wine (especially if you don’t finish it!). No one wants to put an opened bottle back in their purse (because leakage would be devastating to your bag!), but this tote has the perfect, cozy sleeve to keep your bottle upright and secure. Genius right?!

BOHO LIFESTYLE dress: shop here // J. CREW cocoon coat (30% off) : shop here // J. CREW tights: shop here // ROMWE platform oxfords: shop here and here // ASOS beanie: shop here

Like I mentioned before, you can find casual wear at Boho Lifestyle, but they also have a great selection of affordable holiday wear. I often drift towards reds and golds when festively dressing, but this forest green has been keeping my attention this season. This long sleeve dress (that’s only $52!) has the perfect amount of flare at the hem, drapes nicely on your body, and is extremely comfortable. I love pairing shorter dresses with tights not only to keep my legs warm but also to add another texture and material to your look!

(^ SALE ALERT!! This J. Crew ‘Cocoon’ coat is now 30$ off! I’ve been wearing it with everything…comfortable AND warm, and enough room to layer underneath. There are some super cute colors available too!)

TRUCE COSMETICS Clarifying Citrus Cleaner, Wash Cloth and Scrub Kit: shop here // Peptide Perfecting Eye Cream: shop here // Liquid Lipsticks in ‘Chardonnay’ and ‘Pinot Noir’: shop here

With the change of seasons also comes a change in skincare needs. Our skin needs more moisture and care during winter months and we need to make sure we actively change how we treat our skin. A great way to think about it is as you put on more layers of clothes, you must also put on more layers of skincare products. That means a heavier moisturizer, serum, and creams. I was recently introduced to TRUCE COSMETICS, another local Napa company! Truce aims to nourish, correct and protect every skin type from the heart of the valley. Here are a few of my favorite products:

I am very picky when it comes to lip glosses, lip sticks and lip stains. I literally will not wear any product that has a funky scent, doesn’t apply smoothly, or dries quickly on my lips. What I love about this line of matte lipsticks is it’s easy to wear! The matte quality sticks to your lips well and feels weightless upon application. The stick allows you to slide the lipstick on easily and seamlessly and wear all day. Oh, and the wine themed names are too cute!!

I hope you’ve found some great new Napa companies to explore this holiday season! Be sure to check them out on Instagram at @boholifestyleca, @oliveandpoppy, and at @truceosmetics. And please share with me any Napa gifts you find! I’d love to see 🙂
